Shadow and Bone was great - it wasn't perfect though. . .
But THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME!
But THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME!

Characters
Alina greatly improved in this book compared to Shadow and Bone.
Nikolai was the star of the show. His banter with other characters - especially Mal and Alina - was *chefs kiss*
The Darkling wasn't at the forefront of this book but his presence was still there. I don't have a big opinion of him. The only reason I have maybe a tiny smidge of love for his character is because when I picture the Darkling, I only see Ben Barnes. xD
(But seriously all the characters - even the bad ones - are lovable in their own way.)

Plot
Compared to the last book, this one was a little slower, but I went in expecting it to fit the typical slow, middle-of-a-trilogy vibe so my expectations weren't very high.
Some of the plot was predictable but overall it was enjoyable and moved somewhat quickly.

5/5 Stars! I would read again!
