How Much It May Storm by A.N. Willis

5.0

Willis has a way of crafting settings that have just as much personality as her complex and intriguing characters, with just as many secrets. Nothing is ever as it seems.

This ghostly standalone follows Millie and Dinah, two protagonists from two different time periods living in a mining town.

Millie is a nurse with a supernatural secret that gives her a unique skill when it comes to helping her patients, a skill that comes with a frightening cost.

Dinah is a tomboy unafraid to be herself in a time where society’s expectations and limitations of girls are stifling.

Their stories are intricately weaved and connected in the most surprising ways, not just with one another but with our contemporary world too.

There aren’t many stories I read in one setting, but this is one. Every chapter leaves you wanting to read just one more. This story grips your attention and doesn’t let go until the last page.

I’m not usually a fan of multiple POV because I tend to like one character more than the others, but Millie and Dinah were equally intriguing and easy to connect with.

This story is for you if you love:
- well crafted settings that make you feel like you’re there
- complex characters
- Supernatural elements intermingled with historical events and messy, complicated family sagas
- nail-biting suspense
- and ghostly, hair raising chills that make you sleep with one eye open

Don’t miss this enthralling read.
