Dictatorial Grimoire: Cinderella by Ayumi Kanou
4.0
Putting aside my fondness for fairy tales, which allowed me to come to this manga with high expectations (which it met flawlessly), the depth of character and plot made this volume a delightful read. The discrepancy between Grimm's 'normal' life and his exposure to the Marchen Demons was disorienting at first, but the relationship between the two clarified as the chapters proceeded. By the fourth, they'd begun to mesh nicely together. The art is also worthy of high regard, but my appreciation of it, I think, largely hinges on my love for the particular style Ayumi Kanou uses -one I have also seen in Eiki Eiki and Tishi Zaou's Love Stage!! The twists that Miss Kanou applies to the fairy tales turns them into fresh, exciting surprises which leave the reader wanting more and asking questions.
