Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany by Norman Ohler
dark
informative
medium-paced
3.5
An absolutely fascinating look at the incredibly screwed-up history of drug use in Nazi Germany. Hitler receiving daily injections of cocaine and animal hormones, methed-up child soldiers piloting suicide submarines… Ohler doesn’t quite land the transition from novels to non-fiction, and the English translation needs some work, but Blitzed was a wild ride from start to finish.
Graphic: Drug use, Drug abuse, Genocide, Gun violence, and Antisemitism
Moderate: Xenophobia
Minor: Torture and Homophobia
