 Nature held me close and seemed to find no fault with me.

I don’t have adequate words to describe how this book made me feel. As soon as I finished reading it via free PDF from the author’s website, I bought a physical copy just so I can hold it. 

To see trans peoples’ history catalogued back at a time where it was not only frowned upon, but actively dangerous, is a really precious thing to have in literary form. To have it told in such beautiful, immersive and deeply emotional prose makes this an instant favourite for me, and I would recommend this one as a must-read for all queer people (and straight people too to be honest). 

A reminder that everyone in this world deserves to have their peace and well being fought for, even if it’s not something of which you yourself have the luxury.
