2.5 stars. I got this book from a friend’s dad decided to start it over the holiday weekend. The plot and protagonist were likable enough, but I was annoyed by the educational lineages following every character, as well as the footnotes. They were obnoxious. I also didn’t understand why Lucie couldn’t be with someone like George? Does she have so much self-hatred and is her family so racist that she can’t see herself with a Chinese man? That was the biggest hole in the plot, not to mention the drone incident in the middle of the book. Who cares? The stakes were so low.
