Clean Break by Jacqueline Wilson
3.0

I know I’ve said it before and I know that I’ll probably say it again as I work my way back through all of Jacqueline Wilson’s books, but what I’ve always appreciated about them is that she doesn’t shy away from writing about difficult situations or people that are not perfect.

It’s so refreshing for kids to see that not everyone has a perfect life and that their own experiences aren’t less because of that. And it’s incredibly important as well.

This is quite a sad story, it’s all about three children who are so desperate for their dad to return, and the different ways that they lash out as they try to come to terms with their new world without him.

It felt a little bit more grown up than some of the other Wilson books but it’s still one that can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
