This book was a great combination of a sweet romance and an exciting suspense plot. It was a good start to the series as it introduced the Resting Warrior Ranch, the town of Garnet Bend and several secondary characters who will inevitably turn into main characters. 

There’s nothing I love more than a scarred character who learns to love herself through the unconditional love of someone else. That is exactly what we got from Evelyn and Lucas. When they met, Lucas knew Evelyn was running from something, but the more he learned about her, the more his protective instincts flared. He earned Evelyn’s trust and taught her how to love herself, scars and all.
