I found this book really interesting for many reasons. (1) I'm a big fan of modern retellings or adaptations of ancient stories and this did a good job of having the flavors of a modern retelling without precisely following the ancient storyline. (2) I found it very interesting to spend so much time inside the head of a teenage girl (the age my own daughter will be at some point), thinking in ways that are often different from the ways I thought at that age. (3) The puzzle of how the artifact that protects the wearer from evil kept my problem-solving brain running, trying to understand what the artifact was announcing.

I will be reading the 2nd book in this series as soon as my library can get it to me.
