Up until they get to that inn keeper with the hyena I was really enjoying it but after that everything felt very 'makes it easy' like the author really just wanted the plot to go away so the focus could be on the characters. I wish that had been leaned into as the constant extra characters that didn't get much time to have depth and the plot with the chalices just seemed to get in the way. There were things I genuinely liked but I really prefer the author's shorter works as of right now. They seem more focused on the things I enjoy about these books.
