Our Not-So-Lonely Planet Travel Guide, Volume 2 by Mone Sorai
5.0
July 2022. Eager and enthusiastic BL manga about a couple taking a trip around the world, with plans to get married in a country where it’s legal to wrap up their trip. The second volume is even better than the first!
Sweet and charming, this couple has been together a long time and are comfortable and secure together, which I really appreciated. They learn about new cultures together and each enjoy different elements and it is genuinely wondrous and joyous in celebrating the uniqueness and diversity of different places. It made me want to travel and try new foods and new experiences, just reading it.
I really enjoyed the earnest celebration of travel and culture and the characters’ experiences bonding together with each other and those they meet in different countries. They continue to meet different kinds of queer couples in the second volume as well as couples with other differences like a Japanese woman who has moved to Germany for her German husband, and we see our boys learn to rely on each other in new ways.
Got it from the link system which lets me borrow books from other districts through the Sac library, and have the 2nd volume too which I’ll be reading soon. Volume 3 will be coming out in the future and I’ll definitely check it out. Volumes 1-2 are also on Hoopla.
