While I still think the concepts in this series are very interesting, but I think the direction this series has gone in isn’t quite for me. There’s a ton of mind-bendy world building/exploration and expansion of the themes and ideology from the first novel, which I did appreciate, but I just didn’t find this to be that compelling for me. I also felt like parts of this were a bit confusing and convoluted with all the time stuff, and there were a few too many action scenes for me considering the length of this novel. It also felt like the characters themselves took a big backseat, and it felt we were at arms-length from them and they didn’t develop that much, which made it harder for me to connect with the story. Overall, this wasn’t a bad book by any means and I think the exploration of themes and the world building were interesting, but I think the execution just wasn’t totally for me.
