A Higher Call: An Incredible True Story of Combat and Chivalry in the War-Torn Skies of World War II by Adam Makos

5.0

A unexpected flight into the world of the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, and the US Air Force over the skies of Germany in World War II. A refreshing look into humanity from two sides of a global war and an unfathomable act of honor by a fully loaded, fully ammoed German fighter pilot and his encountered with a crippled Flying Fortress and its injured making its solo attempted escape out of enemy lines back to England. A look into two men's lives leading up to and before their encounter that was hidden for more than forty years before these two war heroes were reunited and started a friendship that would last another twenty years. Well written, fast-paced, emotional, and humanizing.
