The Red and the Black by Stendhal

Did not finish book. Stopped at 34%.
It lacks, in my opinion, the classical hint of originality. Realism should not leave that to oblivion, although poetry isn't much a synonym of it. I felt I was reading a mix of Madamme Bovary, Le Pére Goriot and Crime and Punishment. Despite that, it didn't feel as good as those.

This is, of course, a matter of subjectivity.
