Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maritza Moulite, Maika Moulite

4.0

I really enjoyed the characters and their development and what I learned about Haiti while reading - I so appreciated the authors being able to weave in so much rich cultural and historical knowledge. Alaine’s voice is so strong, and the conflict between characters was given nuance that I greatly appreciated. More than once when I stepped away in the middle of reading I found my thoughts wandering back to the book and what was going to happen next, which is always a good sign for me.
