I WAS PROMISED A DOMINANT FEMALE / SUBMISSIVE MALE BOOK AND I DID NOT GET IT AND I'M FUCKING PISSED.
I was so goddamn excited for this, y'all have no idea. Dominant, fat, lawyer FMC and sweet, golden retriever, hockey player MMC ?????????? You had me sitting from the second I found out this was going to exist.
Unfortunately, this book was a mess. It took absolutely every cell in my body not to DNF this. I don't know if the author assumes her readers are stupid, or if she just likes spelling out every excruciating detail like she's telling a story to a kindergartener. It got really redundant.
I'm also really sick of the astrology stuff in her books. I'm not a religious person, I don't like reading about religion, and I would place astrology in the same vein as religion in that it's used to try to explain shit we don't have the answers to. It's boring and lazy.
The plot was portrayed as more dramatic than it needed to be, and the conflict between the FMC and MMC was contrived. And I did not like how she needed to "step into her confidence" with Ryan at the end ???? It's not a pair of pants.
Don't even get me started on the fucking sex scenes because I could rant for fucking hours.
All in all, I wish I could unread this simply because it makes me furious every time I think about it. Apparently, I am a glutton for punishment, though, because I will be reading Poppy's book. Keep me in your thoughts.
