Inception
by Bianca Scardoni
Reading reviews before you read the book ... on one hand, it's good to have an idea what people think, on the other hand, spoilers and expectations. Based on many high reviews, maybe I came in expecting too much. I was also waiting for the "shocking twist" at the end (per reviews) so that when it happened, I wasn't surprised.
For me, this was just another paranormal YA out there ... really nothing in it to make it memorable, or even make me want to continue on with the series. It was a little convoluted ... I thought it was going to be about vampires, but then it was more about fallen angels, and then half the characters ended up being something other than human. Add in all the high school drama ... Nikki's insane jealousy was eye-rolling (and unexplained, as was her tryst with Caleb). I just never got around to connecting with the characters or the story.
Vocabulary
elegiac - having a mournful quality
loquacious - talkative
