So I had mixed feelings when I started this book. I was afraid it was going to be a rough read, however I was pleasantly surprised. The book started off a little slow but about a quarter of the way through it picked up speed. I love how you receive a look at all the characters histories, it makes them easier to understand. This book didn't have the standard "love story" that so many books related to magic/fantasy have, which was very refreshing. Really looking forward to book two.
