What isn’t to love about this book? There’s a great romance, there’s a political plot you can’t help but root for our MCs in, and there’s a group of sisters with amazing sibling dynamics.

Ana Maria and her sisters Isabel and Gabby have left their home in Mexico due to the war with France, taking refuge in London with their uncle. It’s wonderful to watch the sisters finally get more of a say in their lives, getting to attend events and not be constantly under their father’s thumb. Though we see it through Ana Maria’s eyes, the personalities of each sister are obvious, and I can’t wait to see that further explored in the next book.

Gideon, the MMC, reminds me so much of Anthony Bridgerton in how much he is forcing himself to stay away and not think about what could be with Ana Maria. The two men differ on everything else, but it was wonderful to read something similar to media I enjoy and see it work just as well.

The third act took me on a roller coaster I was not expecting and it was awesome. It’s exactly the action and surprise that I like in books but I don’t often find in the romances I read.
