This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate
by Naomi Klein
A really important book that canvasses many fundamental aspects of the climate change crisis and proposed solutions, backs up arguments with considerable evidence and presents a hard-hitting argument that our dominant political and economic structures need to change if we truly want to preserve the world we live in. I hope that this book makes it into the hands of the world's leaders (or, more realistically, their staffers).
I don't think it will, though, purely because of its length (it took me a whopping 15 months to read). Klein provides so many anecdotes and examples that I got a bit blurry-eyed reading this; just a few would have done. A shorter, more pointed work could have real, widespread impact. As it stands, I just don't think the people who matter will have time to read this.
