Rounding this up to a three. Unique approach— kind of like Heathers by way of magical realism— but I got through the bulk of the story without that much investment. There was some parts near the end that was great though, and I’ll still probably watch the adaptation if it’s in a streaming service I’m already subscribed to. I like the visual descriptions; I can see how the characters look like and the scene clear in my head.
 
I know a lot of people are weirded out by this (both in a bad and good way) but I actually wish it was even weirder. It was pretty easy to guess where some plot points were going. I like the visual descriptions; I can see how the characters look like and the scene clear in my head.
