Holy wow. This book was lent to me by a work friend, who doesn't read anywhere near as much me, but said he loved this book. I can totally understand why. I was hooked right from the start with this one, and I just had to know what had happened in the past, and what the truth was behind the current most recent crime.

Harper brings to life the drought and small country town life in a very real way. The severity of drought here in Australia, and the struggles that our farmers face. Even things as how small communities like that know everything about each other. The book felt real. It dragged me in. I couldn't wait to pick it back up, each and every time I put it down.

The truth of the two mysteries that run through this book really caught me by surprise. I had thought about the culprits being the ones who had done it, but only in passing and not really with any real conviction. This story was wound together perfectly, fraught with mystery and echoes from the past. A real page turner, and I can't wait to read more books about Falk in the future, and any other books this author writes. Highly recommend.
