Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Pérez

4.0

read this during Thanksgiving time and if your family isn't going to make you angry during the holidays, this book certainly will accomplish that. women do not receive proper access to healthcare, pay, or legislation that benefits everyone. most of which is due to the lack of data surrounding these LARGE areas of our world and how we function in it. for example, Perez explains that a medication designed to help those who experience periods with PMS symptoms...not even tested on women. so much of this book made me absolutely irate and Perez includes a call to action from every field that garners these lack of data biases that negatively impact women. my only qualm is the insane amount of jargon utilized throughout. although sometimes necessary, it made the book feel much more dense and difficult to fully wrap my head around and understand. overall, all men need to read this book and then we need to reform our outdated and blatantly lacking systems.
