Drunk Mom
by Jowita Bydlowska
3.5 rounding down. This memoir was an emotional rollercoaster with such an accurate, palpable portrayal of the addiction process I felt could feel it viscerally in my gut and in my bones. I wanted to put it down at times, but what I've found is that that these moments are oftentimes the moments that ask us to lean in closer, to listen deeper, to be curious about the origins of our own discomfort. Bydlowska vulnerably invites readers into her story and her pain, both of which deserve honor, respect, and attention. Maybe you will find yourself somewhere in this memoir, maybe not. Either way, if you're at all curious about the grip of addiction or your own relationship with alcohol, this book might be a good place to start.
