I hit the wall reading this, so fingers crossed it doesn’t put me into a slump. I didn’t really have any expectations when I picked this up, but I had enjoyed For Your Own Good. So I was disappointed when I found this boring, despite the excellent premise.
I think most of my disappointment comes from the way the story is told - the only POV we have is the unnamed husband talking to us, and there’s so much padding in there that I did contemplate DNFing several times. The idea is great, with a husband & wife team as serial killers, and I liked that he was the bait & she was the killer. It’s just everything else about the book. She’s clearly a psychopath & he only thinks with his dick, but I had to know if one or both would get caught or if they would ride off into the sunset, ready to kill again.
