Mill Town: Reckoning with What Remains
by Kerri Arsenault
I listened to Mill Town as an audiobook, and it was slow going. Often, I got lost among the many names, environmental terms, and technical jargon; perhaps this was the author's intention. But I'm glad I read it nonetheless. I'm from a small logging town in Washington state that has seen better days, and although it's all the way across the country from Mexico, Maine, I felt a great deal of kinship with Arsenault. I, too, have moved away from my small town and am constantly "reckoning with what remains." I appreciate the nostalgia, research, and thoughtfulness that fills this book.
