I do understand that the main character is supposed to be unlikable and it's about the questionable ethics of the experiment. But the book didn't go far enough.

For an unlikeabke character, the MC was boring and annoying. I didn't feel any hatred towards Sean for disregarding the ethics of the research or her lack of interest in her own marriage. The dissolution of Sean and Riya's relationship felt hollow and stilted. Despite the tag for it, there was no horror aspect to this book, even though there were places it could have gone in that direction and would have been better off for it.

A mild read that lacked the bite it was aiming for.
