The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

4.0

Vol. 1 - Tom Bombadil weirds me out
Vol. 2 - "PO-TA-TOES" Samwise Gamgee
Vol. 3 - Frodo a punk, and my least favorite charcter.

Over all, the story was well written and I enjoyed most of it.
That said, I deeply enjoyed the ending/epilogue portion where the hobbits return and take back the shire. And my favorite parts were books 3 and 5 (the first half of Two Towers and Return of the King respectively) where we gear the adventures of the Company of everyone BUT Frodo.

The portions where Frodo and Sam were the only characters frustrated me. Plainly speaking, Frodo was pretty useless and the only thing that made those portions bearable was that everyone needs a Samwise in their lives.

All said, I wasn't a huge can of the novel, but I understand it was written in WWI and that I'm not into as much as some of my friends. I won't go defending the Shire or learning Elvish, but I can now say I've read the story, and it was a fun journey (but one I would rather no re-encounter).
