Wow where to even begin? What an interesting and different story. It didn’t take long for me to become invested. The book is obviously centered around gaming as 2 of the main characters create video games, but it’s more about the relationships between the main characters and the experiences that shape their lives. I’d say you don’t have to be knowledgeable of video games to still enjoy this book.

This book spans over a like 20+ year period.
So much already had happened when I hit the 50% mark and I thought: wow how tf do I still have half of the book left?! I love how often the author went back and forth between past and present. I haven’t read a lot of books where the story is told from a third person perspective, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The NPC and Pioneers chapters were so unique and different and heartbreaking 🥺

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and it certainly lives up to the hype. It may be one of my favorite books this year. Or of all time. Also, maybe don’t read this book in public so you don’t find yourself self crying while waking on a treadmill at the gym like me. 🫣
