This was a phenomenal read. I was so engrossed in the world the author built and felt so welcome and able to learn about a culture I was unfamiliar with.
Arlo is a DeafBlind Jehovah's Witness who lives under the guardianship of his great Uncle. His life is very sheltered, but when he convinces his great uncle to let him take a writing class at a local community college,, the trajectory of his life changes.
This is a richly layered story about complex people and their relationships, and I was absolutely captivated from the very first pages. I would love to read more like this- the depth, humor and humanity of all the characters shines in a way that rarely all comes together with an interesting and layered plot.
This is an absolute 5 star read for me.
