"A person with a knife is one thing… but a person with a cause can topple kingdoms."

The Drowned Woods is an incredible story; a beautifully woven narrative steeped in Welsh mythology, and full to the brim with magic, adventure, tension, and loveable characters. The female MC Mererid “Mer” made this a perfect read in the lead up to bi-visibility day, and if you like animal sidekicks as much as me, you'll particularly love Trevor, the corgi who may or may not be a spy for the other folk.

Lloyd-Jones narrative style is smooth and rich in sensory detail that truly makes you forget you're reading. I adored The Bone Houses and it is often the first book that comes to mind when I am asked to name a favourite; I will now be recommending The Drowned Woods just as enthusiastically.
