everyone says to start reading murakami with either this book or norwegian wood, but i never read norwegian wood and read seven of his other books before this one. and i’m glad i did. it feels full. it feels like reading arundhati roy, even though their styles are so different, every single moment in the book is carefully chosen. none of it is auxiliary.
