I typically love Ruby Dixon's books, but the plot of this one just fell a little short for me. I could understand how long things took to kindle because of the FMC's past as a slave, but if the 5 year epilogue wasn't there, I wouldn't have been sold on a happy ending.
These two had avoided speaking for like a week, then they're getting married like it's the next logical step upon reuniting
. I think I just needed more time to view them as a cohesive unit. I also wasn't overly enthused by the 5 year epilogue as it felt a bit forced, but that's a minor quip on my end.
