A Hundred Forevers by Ramona Meisel

4.0

The best way to finish out the year is to remember you still haven't reviewed that poetry collection you've been pushing everybody you know to read.

I don't have a lot to say because I feel like I never say it as well in text as I think it while I'm reading, but I really enjoyed this collection. As most of you know, I'm a huge greek mythology fan. I'm also a huge poetry fan, so if you're putting the two together you've got my attention. I read Meisel's Sunblind for the first time a couple of years ago, but I got out of touch with her work until recently, and I'm so glad there's more to the universe those poems are set in. As always, the poems are graphic and vivid and yet sweet and somber. Surprisingly, I think the poems featuring Demeter ended up being some of my favorites, which I hadn't expected. All in all, a pleasure to read.
