"Journey to the Centre of the Earth" is a delightfully bonkers 19th-century sci-fi adventure that follows an obsessive professor and his reluctant nephew as they spelunk their way through scientifically improbable underground caverns and prehistoric encounters, and while the geology might be completely wrong and the pacing occasionally drags through excessive mineral descriptions, Verne's infectious enthusiasm and imaginative world-building make this classic tale of subterranean exploration an endearing reminder of how thrilling scientific discovery can be when viewed through the lens of wide-eyed wonder rather than strict accuracy.
