This series has quite quickly become one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I love the mix of a magical academy, shifters, vampires, witches, gargoyles and everything you can come up with and political and romantic drama. However, those books are quite big considering the target audience. I don't mind reading big books, but for some reason I always have to gather some courage to get them. Last week I finally gathered enough courage to start this book.

This book is an action-packed rollercoaster from start to finish. The characters, and therefore the readers, barely get time to breath. They're trying to save the world, but it seems that wherever they go and whoever they ask for help, they always have to fight for it or fight their way out of it. I personally missed the light hearted or more emotional scenes. But, by the end of the book there were still a few scenes getting me to tear up.

In a way this book felt like a series finale, even though there are more books to come. I did quite like though how everything and everyone came together. We finally got to see the court of the gargoyles, we also saw how Grace learned that she doesn't have to save the entire world on her own and even though this book was mostly about action and not so much about emotion, we saw quite a few characters growing and learning a lot during this book.

I also really enjoyed the actual finale of the book. Since it was clear that THIS was the big moment, I knew that one way or another things would work out eventually, but the author did a great job creating tension and getting our characters in almost impossible positions. And I really enjoyed how the fight was eventually won. It fitted the characters we met. It fitted what we learned about them. It fitted their personalities.

And now I'm really curious to finally find out what happened in the four months Grace had forgotten about.
