This book hit me hard in its portrayal of “benevolent”, every day racism and really made me reflect on my own attitudes, behaviours, and privilege. It also landed right for me as a person who babysat until I was 25 because it was such a joyful - albeit low status - job. I absolutely loved the characters and the writing
