The Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton
3.0

I love Kate Morton, and this was her only book I hadn’t read. Her most recent novel, Homecoming, I really loved.

But this one missed the mark for me. It has the lovely setting & atmospheric mystery of all her books, but the middle was slow, there are too many characters, and I had so many unanswered questions when it ended.

Also, it seems misnamed. It should have been named The House in the River Bend, or Birchwood Manor, or maybe something related to Birdie/Lily that was more relevant to the story than “clockmaker’s daughter”.
