I enjoyed this book. I thought it was cute and fun and I liked the chemistry between Cassie and Frederick.
If you're looking for a very low-stakes book, I think this would be a good one to start. But I do think there are some things missing.
It is supposed to be a romantic comedy and though there were some funny moments, I expected more of them. It seemed like the comedy was supposed to just be Frederick's lack of understanding of the current social world but it didn't work as well in some areas as it did in others. Like the coffee shop scene was not as funny as it could have been but the bathroom run-in was great as well as the ending with the TikTok video.
I also felt like there wasn't much in the way of character growth besides Frederick kind of learning how to interact in the world. I don't think Cassie's growth was shown very well. I think it was mostly just that she was supposed to be learning how to believe in herself and I saw a little bit of that, but I think it needed to be shown more because I just didn't feel it.
In all, it was a very mid book for me I think. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.
