Grandma Chickenlegs by Moira Kemp, Geraldine McCaughrean

4.0

I am a sucker for Baba Yaga stories, and this one is fun.  It's bright, colorful, and all around an amusing retelling of a classic tale.  There's animal companions, the power of three, the widowed father, and the evil stepmother.  All of these beloved tropes are in this picture book, making it consistent with that of the original tale.  Overall, this book is reminiscent of a simpler time in culture and childhood, and is perfect for the child who loves witches.
