Thorough to the point of exhaustion, Emily Nussbaum must have watched thousands of hours of reality TV to build this comprehensive history of the invention of the genre and its progression. She presents the stories very objectively and does a great job explaining the behind the scenes events that built our most popular reality TV shows. (Yes, some stories are as icky as you would think.)
