- Finally some Loid background story!! Volume 10 opens with his childhood, back when he's known as [redacted 👀] and the war between the East and the West is just brewing. We touch upon Loid's childhood friends, their wartime games and his hope that there might be no war at all. The story broke my heart, as we know that the war is inevitable and Loid experiences many devastating losses. It was interesting to see how he went from soldier to spy and how he came to focus on information/intelligence as a means to aid his country.
- The background story was a flashback and had a nice connection to the present as Loid is horrified that Anya got another Tonitrus bolt - bringing his mission in danger. We got another interesting Mission showing Anya and Henderson interacting and talking about being an Imperial Scholar! There's also more focus on Loid's boss and colleagues as they deal with the threats against an Ostanian performer!
- The part I liked the most was Yor meeting a club of Moms! A chance encounter leads her to join them in playing Volleyball and she gets invited into their friendship circle. I loved that Yor found a new community where her struggles with being a mom are understood. She's trying so desperately to seem normal, that she has forgotten that it's okay to struggle! This mission had some interesting implications and a twist I didn't see coming 👀
- Bonus: because it's the tenth volume there was an extra comic of the characters reacting to the news and it breaking the fourth wall was hilarious 😂
Graphic: Death, Violence, and War
Minor: Child abuse
