I am so torn with what I think of this book. This review is going to be a mess.

What I love most about this book is how the story is set out: Amanda is laying in a pitch black waiting room and her friend's son is sat next to her. Together they try and recollect how she got to that moment. It's told through dialogue between the has different layers to it. The first being them in the waiting room, and the second being Amanda recollecting her memories. I love the complexity of it and how it randomly interjects between the two.

It wasn't until I read other's reviews did I really understand the main takeaway from this novel. I would love to re-read this again with that in mind, and analyse it. And knowing that, you'd get a lot more out of it, not just an unsettling psychological vs paranormal thriller/horror.

Overall it's an enjoyable eerie read. I loved the writing style and the narrative choices. It definitely had me confused and trying to piece it all together, and knowing what I know now - it's a book that deserves a re-read.
