Franzen's writing is really interesting and engaging--I can see why he stands out as one of the big names in contemporary literature. That being said, I don't know if I could say I wholly enjoyed the book. All the characters are vaguely unlikeable and their situations seem bleak and depressing most of the time, with dark humor interspersed. Not my favorite.
