Please check triggers for this one, it contains some pretty distressing content.
I liked Convenience Store Woman when I read it years ago, but now after reading this I just want to know if Murata is ok... This book was disturbing and not at all in a good way. The lighthearted absurdity in Convenience Store Woman was completely absent and replaced with something much darker and more concerning. I didn't like how Natsuki's problems were dismissed by everyone around her and that she was largely ignored by people who should have cared for her, with no real way to resolve anything. It made for a plot that felt totally devoid of hope, and right now I just can't handle that.
