Felt kinda like a Covid book, steeped as it is in AO3 culture and communities. A fanfic writer and cosplayer of a popular show that seems an awful lot like GoT with the serial numbers filed off falls into a romance with an actor on the show. The wrinkle being said actor is ALSO her writing partner and longtime online friend, but he doesn't clue her in on this identity because his career would be over if the shitty showrunners found out he was writing fix-it fics.

Both characters have horrific families who messed them up in identity-defining ways. April's mom fat shamed the shit out of her -- still does -- and his parents, despite being teachers, never figured out he was massively dyslexic, and treated him instead like he was stupid. So they both have very plausible complexes which mess with their relationship.
