Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
5.0

This book is just amazing.

The central character, Toru Watanabe, gives the impression that he's detached and unfeeling and just going through life without really doing or feeling anything, rather, things are just happening to him. But his actions and his dialogues and letters give a deep insight into how wise and deep and depressed he truly is. The dialogues of this book are so immersive real and rich.

There is a sad undertone in this whole book that moved me. You get the sense of how broken or sad the characters are from everything they do or say, making their interactions and intimate times truly precious and fragile. But also, there is certain liveliness and optimism too. Overall, it is an amazing read.
