Come the Spring by Julie Garwood
3.0
Julie Garwood books hew to a pattern. Alpha males, often in leadership (of a clan) or law enforcement type roles. Smart, strong females, often sassy. The men may think they need rescuing, but usually they’re pretty capable. Multiple romances among close friends. All those elements are here set in an old-west setting. And like many (but not all ) Garwood romance, the hero is a bit pushy about the fact that the heroine should fall in love with him, but the heroine’s not afraid to push back.
I enjoyed, but didn’t love the book. It was heading for two stars (which is “OK” ) on my 5 star romance scale because it started to feel too much like novels I’ve read before even though it was set somewhere else. But then, there’s a plot twist that perhaps I should have seen coming that elevates it to three stars.
