I was a bit unsure about this novel as I started it; I could feel in the writing that it was a debut, and early on there were thoughts and feelings that I felt could have been shown and not told explicitly.
However I feel like it really blossomed as it went on; the internal exploration of grief and (I really don't want to say "the power of friendship" but) the power of friendship was so moving to read, I definitely cried a fair bit.
Also the snippets of flashbacks to life as a young adult in Australia, at the bars trying to have "important" conversations but still maintain your uni friend group? Painfully relatable.
