The Silence by Don DeLillo

4.0

The timing for the release of this book was bad. Almost a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, and heading into the most divisive political season in a generation, the absolute last thing I wanted to engage with was a story about the psychic collapse the loss of our technology would bring about. It's a DeLillo novella, so the writing is of course excellent -- however it doesn't reach the shimmering, songbird heights of Body Artist or Point Omega. It's a quick read, so I'll likely return to it in a few years and re-evaluate.
